Summary

Job Title - Rural Community and Court AdvocateLocation - Newberry, SCFull-time with benefitsJob Summary:Provide community outreach and trauma-informed advocacy, case management, and other supportive services for intimate partner violence survivors. Enhance survivor safety by assisting clients in navigating community and court services.Job Responsibilities:Assess rural survivors' needs for community and court advocacy and serve as a liaison between the client and community collaborating partners, including but not limited to DSS and law enforcement.Accompany clients to court hearings, provide support and advocacy, and clarify legal terminology and procedures.Collaborate with company attorneys and court personnel to help facilitate seamless client access within the judicial system.Remain current on the status of intimate partner violence abuse laws, procedures, and practices of the judicial and law enforcement systems.Provide case management services, crisis intervention and prevention, make referrals, act as an advocate for clients, and facilitate program participants' access to community resources such as vocational rehabilitation, health services, childcare, transportation, food, and employment opportunities.Provide outreach to inform IPV survivors.Assist IPV survivors in obtaining safe and secure housing for themselves and their children.Assist survivors in developing a plan for goals with a timeline for achievement.Provide timely and accurate reports as required or requested.Input direct service and collateral time in company client database management system according to company policy and procedures.Participate in staff meetings, case staffing, and other agency meetings.Perform job functions in compliance with policies and procedures and grant requirements.Attend twelve (12) hours of Victim Service Provider (VSP) training each year to remain in compliance and maintain an active status as a VSP.Required Education and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences or a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience.Experience in providing direct services or case management to individuals in need.Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations in an independent manner. Preferred Qualifications and Experience:Preferred Qualifications and Experience:Knowledge of intimate partner violence abuse laws and procedures, and practices of the judicial and law enforcement systems.Understanding of intimate partner violence and its effect on survivors and their children.Knowledge and understanding of the community/county/ciAdditional Requirements and Qualificiations:Successful completion of DSS, SLED/Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, References, Employment Application, Work Authorization, Education Verification, and, when applicable, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screens in compliance with policies and procedures.Must have reliable transportation or be able to secure transportation for travel as needed.Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Organization's policies.#J-18808-Ljbffr
