POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, student employee is responsible for law enforcement, patrol, and emergency response for campus property.Please note: 3 references required when applying for this position.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Intermediate level patrol positionUniformed patrol of campus properties, either on foot or by vehicle, with attention to law enforcement, observation, crime prevention and apprehensionEmergency response to campus alarms/calls for emergency assistance, including law enforcement, fire, medical/injuryEnforce campus driving and parking regulationsPerform traffic control as necessaryAble to work assigned shifts, which may include day, evening, night, weekend, or holiday shift hoursCommunicate effectively and interact with others while handling various situations and problem solvingInterview complainants and suspects of campus incidents, investigate, and prepare written reports on those incidentsMay receive and handle all types of telephone calls and e-mails requiring immediate attentionMay dispatch calls and relay information to appropriate units to ensure prompt response to calls and to best utilize departmental and university resourcesTransmit vital information in emergency and non-emergency situations to appropriate Public Safety units, university departments, and/or outside agenciesMay operate and maintain various law enforcement, fire, and other emergency equipment, which may include weapons, fire suppression, and specialized rescue, medical, and/or other communications equipmentMay provide instruction and demonstration of proper use of law enforcement, fire, first response, and communication equipment and procedures; assist in orientation of new employeesAble to document, in writing, all relevant information in the prescribed format in light of legal ramifications of such; able to prepare reports and make presentationsValid US driver's license with good driving record preferredMust (occasionally) lift/carry and/or push/pull up to 100 lbs.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones UniversityMust be 18 years oldMust be a US CitizenKnowledge of principles of law enforcement, fire procedures, and first responseMinimal knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances that pertain to law enforcement, fire, and other emergency servicesGood communications skillsEducation: High School graduate or GED ExperienceMinimum one semester Public Safety Traffic or related non-BJU experienceComputer Skills: Microsoft WordMicrosoft AccessMicrosoft ExcelWeb-based programsCertificates & Licenses: Will obtain SLED certificationMay obtain CPR, First Aid, OC Spray#J-18808-Ljbffr
