Job Description Job Description Regulatory Affairs ManagerAbout the OpportunityOur client is seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Manager to lead food regulatory compliance and labeling initiatives across a diverse portfolio of food products. This individual will serve as the company's subject matter expert on FDA and USDA regulations, ensuring products are accurately labeled, commercially compliant, and successfully brought to market.
This role partners closely with R&D, Quality, Packaging, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to support new product launches, product reformulations, packaging updates, and ongoing regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do- Lead regulatory review and approval of product labels, packaging artwork, and commercialization documentation.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA/FSIS, and applicable food labeling regulations.
- Review and approve:
- Nutrition Facts Panels
- Ingredient statements
- Allergen declarations
- Product claims and marketing copy
- Product names and standards of identity
- Partner with R&D and Packaging throughout new product development and product changes.
- Evaluate labeling risks and provide practical regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Review advertising, websites, promotional materials, and social media content for regulatory compliance.
- Support manufacturing by resolving labeling issues and regulatory questions.
- Maintain ingredient and finished product specifications.
- Monitor changing food regulations and implement updates across the organization.
- Serve as the primary regulatory resource for internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Manage regulatory priorities while driving continuous improvement of labeling and compliance processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related scientific discipline.
- 5+ years of Regulatory Affairs or Food Labeling experience within food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of:
- FDA food labeling regulations
- USDA/FSIS regulations
- Nutrition Facts Panels
- Ingredient and allergen labeling
- Food claims and standards of identity
- Experience reviewing and approving packaging artwork and commercial labels.
- Demonstrated success partnering with R&D, Packaging, Marketing, Quality, and Operations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- USDA and FDA-regulated food manufacturing
- Frozen foods, prepared meals, meat, dairy, bakery, or consumer packaged goods (CPG)
- Branded and private-label products
- Specification management and labeling software
- Previous leadership or team management experience
