Felony Prosecutor

This position is responsible for prosecuting felony cases in General Sessions Court.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

• Case preparation – preparing cases for trial or negotiating plea, taking depositions, interviewing clients, coordinating investigators and paralegals, maintaining communications with law enforcement agencies, victims, and legal teams.
• Case trial – handling a full caseload of warrants for prosecution, trying cases in General Session Court, assisting other attorneys in prosecution, evaluating case merits, and managing case load.
• Managerial duties – assigning cases to assistant solicitors, answering legal questions, collaborating with Sr. Deputy Solicitor, and using technology for faster case dispositions.

Physical requirements of the job include lifting, driving, and ability to travel.

Typical qualifications include:

• Required educational background and job-related experience: JD and passing SC bar exam, minimum 10 years practicing with trial experience, 14 hours CLE per year.
