Summary

Deputy Special Districts Administrator

Under general direction, the incumbent assists with planning, organizing, directing, and managing the special districts administration (special districts) functions, operations, and services. This includes providing day-to-day direction and management for water treatment and distribution facilities, sewage systems, and wastewater treatment plants, as well as developing and administering contracts and ensuring regulatory compliance. They also handle special assignments as directed by the Special District Administrator and perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Deputy Special Districts Administrator I

Licensing and Certifications:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver's License.

Education and Experience:

PATTERN 1:

Five (5) years of full-time increasingly responsible experience in planning, development, construction, operations, and maintenance of water distribution and treatment systems, and/or sewage systems, and wastewater treatment plants; and at least two (2) years in a management or supervisory position.

And EITHER

Possession of a valid California Grade D2 Distribution Operator Certificate, and a valid California Grade T2 Water Treatment Operator Certificate; or

Possession of a valid California Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate is required.

The ability to obtain all three (3) certificates within one (1) year from date of appointment is required.

PATTERN 2:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, sanitary engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

AND

Two (2) years of full-time increasingly responsible experience in planning, development, construction, operations, and maintenance of water distribution and treatment systems, and/or sewage systems, and wastewater treatment plants; and at least one (1) year in a management or supervisory position.

Deputy Special Districts Administrator II

Licensing and Certifications:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver's License.

Possession of current and valid registration as a Professional Engineer from the State of California, or the ability to obtain registration by reciprocity within six (6) months from date of appointment.

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Civil Engineering or Sanitary Engineering or a closely related field.

AND

Two (2) years of full-time experience in planning, development, construction, operations, and maintenance of water distribution and treatment systems, and/or sewage systems, and wastewater treatment plants; and at least two (2) years in a management or supervisory position.
