Position DescriptionServe as a liaison between insurance and healthcare providers to ensure the timely coordination, and accurate processing, of patient referrals required for medical specialty visits.
Major/Essential Functions- Review and process incoming and outgoing referrals to the clinic.
- Performs duties to support the referral process within TTP Clinics, including processing/managing incoming faxes, tracking referrals, and maintaining accurate and detailed records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Coordinate referrals with referring providers and specialty clinics.
- Contact insurance companies to obtain necessary pre-certifications and prior approvals for services.
- Schedule appointments for patients with specialists and provide reminders for upcoming appointments.
- Educate patients on the referral process, provide instructions for appointments and address any questions or concerns.
- Follow-up on referrals to ensure appointments were completed and to obtain results for the referring provider.
- Maintain PCP(Primary Care Physician) directories, assist with administrative duties and manage waiting lists.
Required QualificationsAssociate's degree plus one (1) year of experience directly related to the processing of patient referralsORHigh school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of experience working as a Certified Medical AssistantORHigh school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of experience directly related to patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing/collections, the processing of prior authorizations, and/or the processing of patient referrals.
