POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Reporting to the Supervisor, Athletic Training, the Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the athletic training program by assisting with injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, and care for student-athletes. Responsibilities include providing first aid and emergency care; managing injury treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up in accordance with medical direction and standard practices; evaluating injuries; providing event coverage; assisting with health screenings and medical referrals; and maintaining accurate health records.
The role also includes implementing taping and protective measures, monitoring environmental and safety conditions, advising coaches and athletes on conditioning, nutrition, and safe participation, contributing to return-to-play and training programs, inspecting equipment and facilities, facilitating communication regarding injuries, and offering general guidance to students.
Work ScheduleThe work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours depending on sport schedules.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in athletic training, physical education, health, kinesiology or a related field; AND
- One (1) year of directly related experience; AND
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D. or the equivalent;* AND
- National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Certification. Employee must fulfill the continuing educational requirements to maintain NATA Certification throughout duration of employment with the District; AND
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
* High School education equivalency equals an adult education diploma or four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment. The physician will be selected and paid for by the District. Disabilities not related to the essential physical job requirements will not preclude the applicant from being hired.
- Education Code § 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that they are free of active tuberculosis.
