PAY RATE

$151,524.00 - $229,559.00 annually

Non-Represented Engineering Band 9

Negotiable initial salary will be between $151,524.00-$197,371.35 annually, commensurate with experience and education

DEFINITION

Under general direction, manages and administers capitally funded system or structure engineering design and construction projects for the District; project areas may include rail car procurement and rehabilitation, stations construction and rehabilitation, automated fare collection, and transit systems and structures design and construction; performs related duties as assigned.

The BART Silicon Valley Extension Phase II (BSVII) Team is seeking highly motivated and exceptionally innovative Project Managers to work with our partners, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) in the design, construction, testing, commissioning of BSVII. The Project Managers will be part of the team that is responsible for ensuring the quality delivery of a project that is safe, reliable, innovative, cost effective, and sustainable. The Project Managers must be experienced with major capital projects and with a track record of stakeholder engagement. We are seeking additions to a team of dedicated professionals who understand the transformative impact of this important project.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate demonstrates skills and experience in three or more of the following areas:

Examples of Duties

Manages and administers the District’s professional services agreements and construction contracts; ensures projects are delivered on-time, within scope and budget, and troubleshoots and resolves complex challenges in all aspects of project closeout.

Provides recommendations for action and assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures in assigned project areas.

Plans, organizes, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned District and contract staff; manages and directs the work of contract consultants.

Directs or participates in the preparation and review of designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates; ensures specifications and contract requirements comply with District standards and policies.

Identifies equipment or systems needs on assigned projects; evaluates functional requirements; reviews vendor and manufacturer design and specifications on project equipment and materials; coordinates equipment procurement and testing activities; oversees equipment installation.

Oversees contractor and consultant contracts; develops scope of work; prepares request for proposal; reviews proposals and makes recommendation on selection; assists in contract negotiation and preparation; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Tracks and evaluates future project technical needs, and coordinates capital funding challenges and improvements.

Serves as the project liaison with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; negotiates and resolves project issues.

Provides responsible staff assistance for higher level management staff on projects and related matters. Prepares and presents reports.

Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of engineering design and construction.



Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Five (5) of (full-time) professional verifiable experience in construction management, engineering project management or related experience.

Substitution:

Additional professional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for- year basis. A college degree is preferred.
