Building Inspection Services Manager*. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team that is dedicated to providing exceptional service, fostering innovation, and promoting teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building inspection, leadership, and a passion for ensuring that building policies are consistently applied and interpreted across the County.
As the
Building Inspection Services Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing building inspection functions in all regions of the County. Key duties may include:
- Supervising and Leading Staff: Direct, manage, and supervise assigned building inspection staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Workload Management: Review and adjust workloads for staff to maintain optimal performance and productivity.
- Code Interpretation and Guidance: Advise staff on code interpretation and ensure consistent enforcement of building inspection policies.
- Conflict Resolution: Assist in resolving conflicts with builders regarding code interpretation or compliance requirements.
- Performance Evaluation: Prepare and sign work evaluations for staff members, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
The
Building Inspection Services Manager will report directly to the
Building Official and play a key role in maintaining high standards for building inspections within the County.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT San Bernardino County is geographically the largest in the United States and the fourteenth largest in population. The
Land Use Services Department is dedicated to ensuring a balance in the areas of housing, business, and recreational needs for the diverse cultures and communities of San Bernardino County. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment, including a fingerprint check.

Minimum RequirementsEXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience equivalent to a Regional Building Inspector Supervisor for San Bernardino County, supervising journey-level building inspectors for a public agency in California, with responsibility for supervising building inspection functions; advising staff regarding code interpretations and requirements.
--AND--
CERTIFICATION: Current possession of International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Residential or Commercial Inspector, Certified Building Official, or Certified Plan Examiner. Indicate possession of certification(s) in the appropriate area of the application.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to guide staff in solving problems, while possessing extensive knowledge of the California Building Codes and the day-to-day operations of a Building and Safety regional office. Possession of Certified Access Specialist (CASp) is highly desirable. Possession of a college degree in a related field and two years of progressively responsible supervision is highly desirable.

Salary:
$99,736.00 - $137,446.40 Annually
