This position will be located at 1730 E. Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO.
You will be joining the Department’s Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program (BVCP), where you will work as the leader of the Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Unit. Team members track and conduct inspections of LTS sites ensuring the tools and controls used at formally contaminated properties protect human health and the environment from any remaining contamination until they are no longer needed.
Long-term stewardship applies to sites and properties where long-term management is necessary to protect human health and the environment from contamination that remains after cleanup. For various reasons, some contaminated properties cannot be cleaned up to pristine conditions. The department also allows some properties to be cleaned to specific levels, such as residential or non-residential, based partly on current and future land uses. The department tracks, regularly inspects, distributes information, and raises public awareness about these sites.
- Provide supervision and mentoring for LTS Unit staff, including assigning tasks and projects, establishing work priorities, and ensuring successful completion of staff assignments.
- D irect the management of Environmental Remediation Program (ERP) LTS sites, including inspections, information management, and oversight for activities such as maintenance projects and long-term monitoring.
- Coordinate the ERP’s effort to provide LTS information to users.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences/natural resources/physical sciences and 4-6 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with database management.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information System.
Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.

Salary:
$65,400-$68,664 per Year
