Description
Introduction The Traffic Engineering and Operations Manager, directs the engineering work of an administrative and technical nature within Transportation.
Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity.
The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this positio n is $143.624 annually .
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related field and ten years of professional level experience in Traffic Engineering, including supervisory responsibilities or a Master's degree from an accredited educational institution in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related field and eight years of professional level experience in Traffic Engineering, including supervisory responsibilities .
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements- Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, OR by the technical board of another state with the ability to obtain Arizona Registration through reciprocity within 6 months of employment.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/services assignment.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Plans, organizes and directs the Traffic Engineering, Right-of-Way Management and Downtown Parking Operations program including safety analysis, data collection, geometric design, and signing and striping design.
- Works closely with ITS group and the Traffic Management Center, providing intersection operations modeling information; assisting with capital projects development and regional coordination.
- Provides a system that is in conformance with related regulations, standards and guidelines.
- Participates in the planning, development and implementation of the 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan.
- Works closely with other departments and divisions on transportation matters, including future private development.
- Attends City Council meetings to provide technical staff support; prepares and presents written and verbal technical reports and makes recommendations to City staff, management, Transportation Commission and Council.
- Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
