The City of Columbia is seeking a skilled and visionary leader with strong decision-making skills who values relationship building and customer service and will have executive-level experience as a City Manager, Deputy City Manager or Assistant City Manager.

The ideal candidate must be a proven municipal leader with the ability to successfully manage any City Department, program, project, or activity assigned by the City Manager. The incoming Assistant City Manager will provide executive leadership and strategic guidance to ensure the efficient operation of the City’s government, work alongside public safety departments (police and fire) and be key in the discussion to address community violence.

A bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business or related field and a minimum of 10 years of executive city management experience. A master’s degree is preferred. Credentialing as an ICMA Certified City Manager and knowledge of law enforcement operations will be beneficial.

The City of Columbia is offering a starting salary of $106,506 to $164,019. Well-qualified candidates can expect to be hired at or above the mid-range of $135,263.
