ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Justice Court is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Justice Court Administrator/Deputy Clerk of the Court. This position serves the dual role as the Deputy Clerk of the Court. The Court Administrator reports to the Chief Judge, who serves as the Clerk of the Court. The Court Administrator directs the various divisions of the court through subordinate division administrators and supervisors, including: criminal, civil, traffic, finance, specialty courts/education, pretrial services, security, information technology, and alternative dispute resolution. In addition, the Court Administrator assists the Chief Judge in planning, overseeing, managing and directing all activities related to short- and long-range capital improvement and development; technological advancements to improve the court’s efficiency and customer service; development of policies and procedures and training of all court staff; preparation and administration of the court’s annual budget; oversight and direction of Justice Court marshals for the safety of the judges, court staff, and public within justice court courtrooms. The Court Administrator serves as a liaison to the Civil Law Self Help Center and county management.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Court Administration, Business or Public Administration or a field related to the work AND six (6) years of full-time senior level management experience in a court setting or other legal setting. Possession of appropriate advanced degree is desirable. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

Working Conditions: Work with exposure to potentially difficult or dangerous individuals.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess, or obtain within one (1) year of date of employment, NCIC certification.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent on the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Must be capable of driving a motor vehicle or arranging for transportation in order to visit various court sites and attend meetings.
