ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Special Public Defender's Office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Mitigation Specialist position. This position will provide a wide variety of professional casework, including handling the most complex cases. This position will work and interact with various soci-economic groups on behalf of a defense team representing indigent clients who are facing criminal charges.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in social work, criminal justice or a related field AND two (2) years full-time previous professional experience in capital mitigation. Possession of an advanced degree in criminal justice or social work may be substituted for one year of experience outlined above.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle in order to attend meetings or site visits; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
