ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Justice Court - Las Vegas is seeking qualified candidates to apply for Justice Court Intake Specialist. This position acts as the first public contact for callers and defendants located at the Clark County Detention Center where relations may be sensitive, difficult or strained; obtains information required for determining release or retention; provides information to the public regarding criminal justice system activities and functions . As a member of our team, you will perform basic office support, release or retention, obtaining information and providing resources.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to two (2) years of college level course work in Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND two (2) years of full-time general clerical or legal office support experience which has included dealing with the public. Experience which will have provided a basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the education.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work in confined situations with exposure to potentially difficult or dangerous individuals.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent on the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
