Assistant Engineer II (Corrosion Engineering Team 2)

Description

The Assistant Engineer II (Corrosion Engineering Team 2) is responsible for assisting with conducting infrastructure reliability assessments of pressure vessels and other water infrastructure assets, designing, and implementing measures to prevent failure or rehabilitate assets, and performing forensic investigations of materials and metallurgy issues. The successful candidate will assist in assuring that assets meet specified standards for reliability and possess at least two years of relevant experience. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate their relevant experience related to in-service inspections on, or designing of, repairs to infrastructure such as pressure vessels, chemical tanks, process piping, or other related infrastructure. This position involves assisting in coordination with Metropolitan's design engineers, operations personnel, other agencies, etc.

Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. 7:00 am - 4:30 pm

Travel: This position will require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, sometimes requiring overnight stay in the project area.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.

Degree in a related field is defined as: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering degree.

Relevant Experience is defined as: experience assisting with or performing in at least two of the following areas: In-service inspections on or designing of repairs to infrastructure such as pressure vessels, chemical tanks, process piping, or other related infrastructure; Non-destructive testing activities on infrastructure, fabrications, forgings, or castings; Materials or corrosion testing activities; Failure analysis investigations; Engineering analysis; AND/OR troubleshooting tasks.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
