Summary
Public Safety OfficerProvides high-profile, uniformed public safety and security services to supplement and assist full-time Public Safety Staff. Washington and Lee University actively promotes a dynamic and welcoming environment that allows students and employees of multiple backgrounds and perspectives to learn, work, and thrive together. Successful candidates will contribute to that environment and exhibit potential for excellence in their areas of expertise.Essential FunctionsProvide safety and security services at University Chapel by enforcing University Chapel rules and regulations. Provides basic greeter function for all Chapel visitors/guests.Acts as a knowledgeable resource to students, staff, and visitors to campus. Provides general information such as directions and more up-to-date information about campus events and activities.Additional hours available for events upon completion of CPR /AED and Basic First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Crowd Manager, ICS-100, Fire Extinguisher, and CSO training.Provide safety and security services at large University events. Enforces University policies, rules, and regulations. Assists with traffic and parking operations as assigned.Other duties as assigned.Work Schedule: Part-time Officers may be assigned to a specific location/detail, such as University Chapel security or event security during a given shift. The position requires availability on an as-needed/available basis, primarily during daylight hours, especially weekends, including holidays.Pay Range: The range for this position is $19.00- $20.00 per hour.Offers are based on factors such as qualifications and relevant experience.Minimum Qualifications:The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.Successful candidates will possess a high degree of reliability, the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Successful candidates can also relate well to students, faculty, and a diverse community.Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and a good driving history.Must be able to pass an extensive background check.Application InstructionsReview of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
