Job SummaryNew Hampton is a small but active agency in the heart of New Hampshires Lakes Region. We offer competitive pay and benefits, with growth opportunities including Master Patrol Officer, Detective, Corporal, and Sergeant positions. Paid on-call shifts and take-home cruisers are available for qualifying officers. Pay is negotiable ($58,000.00-$82,000.00, depending on experience), but no law enforcement experience is necessary. Health and dental insurance are available with no employee contribution, and this position qualifies for New Hampshire Group II retirement. Scheduling is flexible; officers are not required to work regular overnight shifts. General Responsibilities
Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents to provide immediate assistance and ensure public safety.
Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and documenting findings accurately through detailed report writing.
Enforce laws and regulations related to traffic control, criminal activity, and loss prevention.
Perform surveillance operations to monitor suspicious activities and prevent potential threats or crimes.
Manage conflict situations with professionalism and tact, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate tensions effectively.
Provide first aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring injured individuals receive prompt medical attention until additional emergency services arrive.
Engage with the community through outreach programs, fostering positive relationships and promoting safety awareness.
Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incident reports, and investigative findings in compliance with departmental standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of modern police practices, techniques, and methods;
Knowledge of controlling laws, ordinances and court decisions;
Thorough knowledge of the geography of the town;
Rules and regulations of the department;
Knowledge of crime scene interpretation;
Safe guarding and preserving of evidence;
Ability to obtain information through interview and interrogation;
Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper courses of action;
Ability to speak and write effectively ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, town officials, and the public;
Skill in the use of and care of a firearm.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent;
Possession of a valid New Hampshire Driver's License or the ability to attain one before starting;
The ability to pass a physical fitness test, written test, oral board evaluation, stringent background process, psychological testing, polygraph testing, field training program (an accelerated hiring and training process is available for certified applicants);
The ability to obtain a New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Certification.
