Job TitleOfficerJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARY Under limited supervision, officers provide protection of work sites, personnel and assets from events such as assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents along the Alyeska Pipeline. This position works a rotational schedule of two weeks on / two weeks off. *Please note, this position is in Fairbanks, AK. Transportation and housing is not provided.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED Valid driver's license and clean driving record Minimum of one year of experience as an officer (or above) with a municipal, state or federal law enforcement agency, military police unit, corrections or private security company within the past five years State of Alaska armed security officer certification (or ability to obtain) Emergency Trauma Technician certification (or ability to obtain) Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests. As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical and functional capacity evaluation (FCE).Essential FunctionsMake arrests if necessary, using handcuffsFrom a variety of body positions, load, unload, aim and fire handguns, shotguns and other agency firearmsPerform searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings, and large outdoor areasConfront suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriatePerform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disastersExtinguish fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate meansEffectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communicationsUtilize clear and appropriate communication skills when communicating with peopleGather information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining the statements of all participants and witnessesReduce the results of investigations into written form so as to clearly and accurately reflect the information obtainedRead, comprehend, and employ policies and proceduresExercise sound judgment in determining appropriate actionComprehend, evaluate, and correctly respond to oral informationMaintain composure and control of the situationOperate a motor vehicle during both the day and night in a variety of settings and in varying weather conditionConduct visual surveillance for extended periods of timeObserve, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location, and propertyBenefitsFull-time regular employees have the opportunity to enroll in health insurance (medical/dental/vision), life insurance, 401k Retirement Plan and short term disability through Colonial Life.
