Summary
Security Officer
The security officer provides security services to ensure order and safety of patients, visitors and hospital personnel. Responsibilities include escorting visitors, employees, and students upon request, patrolling all areas of the hospital internally and externally on foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle 24 hours a day in all weather conditions, detecting suspicious activities within the campus and handling the situations appropriately, reporting criminal activity to supervisor and law enforcement, assisting medical staff with the enforcement of Baker Act and Marchman Act patients, responding to threats or acts of violence towards patients, staff, and/or visitors, and maintaining compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications include a high school graduate or equivalent, basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes, a valid Florida driver's license, a State of Florida Class "D" Security Officer License, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification, and Basic Security Officer Certification or higher level of certification through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety. Scheduling flexibility, Baker Act and hands on experience during a hurricane, and strong customer service skills are preferred.
