Under the general direction of the HUD Programs Manager, coordinate homeless programs for the City of Inglewood, including working with a wide variety of public agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations involved in the planning and delivery of homeless services.

TASKS
- Work closely with the City’s homelessness leadership and law enforcement to coordinate with the Los Angeles County Coordinated Entry System (CES) providers and other homeless service providers;
- Visit homeless sites/encampments and interview clients to link persons to the CES and other available resources;
- Draft staff reports; produce statistical analysis; and attend and conduct meetings and training on homelessness;
- Apply for and prepare Notices of Funding Available (NOFAs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) related to homeless services;
- Data entry, standing, walking, driving, operating a mobile device and/or cell phone;
- Help to create a consistent system-level response to homelessness in the City of Inglewood.
QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of homeless programs. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Human Services, Mental Health, or Public Health preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge of office record keeping and computer systems; business accounting, and correct English usage to include grammar, spelling, and punctuation; must be familiar with laws and city ordinances related to homeless programs;
- Skilled in gathering and researching data as necessary to complete assignments, establishing productive working relationships with constituents, property owners, and management
- Ability to problem-solve day-to-day issues with little supervision, meet conflicting deadlines and division goals, work with staff to complete assignments, and exercise good judgment in performing essential duties and representing the city; be approachable in verbal, written, and non-verbal communications;
- Proficient in using work-related computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, the internet, and other electronic devices to perform essential job duties.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose experience best meets the city's needs will be invited to participate in the examination for this position. Candidates must have access to a computer with internet, video, and audio capabilities to participate in our examination process. The examination may consist of one or more of the following: (1) Training & Experience Evaluation, (2) Writing Exercise, and (3) Qualifications Appraisal Interview with a panel of subject matter experts. Candidates must receive a score of 70 or higher to have their names placed on the active eligibility list for one year. The top three ranks on the Eligibility List will have their application materials forwarded to the hiring authority for a selection interview.
