Summary
Port Aransas Ferry Security Officer
Provide security services at the Port Aransas Ferry Terminal while maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. This is a public-facing role ideal for dependable, alert professionals who enjoy working with people and responding to a variety of situations. Officers will work closely with customers, employees, contractors, and local emergency services.
Responsibilities
- Control entrances and pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
- Patrol buildings, grounds, parking areas, and property perimeters.
- Maintain a fixed post or conduct patrols as assigned.
- Monitor cameras, alarms, access-control systems, and other security equipment.
- Identify, respond to, and report suspicious activity, accidents, criminal activity, and safety concerns.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents according to established procedures.
- Escort authorized personnel, contractors, materials, and equipment as required.
- Inspect for security, fire, and life-safety hazards.
- Maintain awareness of activity in the assigned area.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service.
- Complete Daily Activity Reports, logbook entries, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of current post orders, emergency procedures, and site requirements.
- Operate security and life-safety equipment as assigned.
- Report security issues and recommended safety improvements to the Security Supervisor.
- Perform special assignments and other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent (GED).
- Must be willing to submit to a background and drug screen; any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation.
- Minimum 1 year of prior relevant experience as a security officer and/or an LEO
- Texas Level II Security License required
