The State of Wisconsin DOC is looking for a Surveillance and Access Control Technician III.
Top skills and years of experience:
a. Cisco Networking Knowledge (Routers & Switches) - 3 years' experience
b. Web Filtering Knowledge (Palo Alto & Zscaler) - 1 to 2 years' experience
c. Video Surveillance Knowledge (Network/Server/Workstation) - 1 to 2 years' experience
Nice to have skills:
a. Door Controls Knowledge
b. Building Automation Knowledge
Interview Process: First round will be virtual with the possibility of a second-round interview on-site.
Remote or On-site: Candidate MUST be a WI resident within a one-hour commute to Madison, WI or willing to relocate within one-hour of Madison, WI prior to starting the role at their own expense. Hybrid Schedule with WFH and on-location at prisons as needed.
Project Details: Provides documentation/project tracking and management reporting. Provides tactical and strategic input on overall systems planning and related projects. Surveillance, network, and server support capabilities with 10 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Independently, performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Additional details:
1. On call rate of $2.25 an hour (On call once every 8 weeks. $2.25 per hour to carry the phone, and when a call comes in that requires work, normal rate applies.)
2. Travel on the team is mostly in-state, day trips. The state provides vehicles out of fleet pool for qualified drivers. There have been some occurrences of overnight travel, but it is very infrequent and planned out well in advance.
3. IT Professional that works on a team responsible for facilities-based systems, including but not limited to, surveillance, door control, building automation, and telecommunication. This work includes all aspects of design, planning, installation, and support of the aforementioned systems, including supporting desktop PCs, servers, network devices, storage solutions, and surveillance-specific equipment. Install, configure, maintain, and monitor multiple state-wide networks, we filtering with Palo Altos and Zscaler, as well as mitigating issues as they arise. Responsible for extensive system documentation creation and updates. Work is performed at the agency's nearly 200 locations, state-wide, including the agency's many secure sites, often independently. Delegation and improvisational skills, creativity, adaptability, and strong troubleshooting skills required. Day travel also required, and long days are common.
