Requirements

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:

OPTION I : Two years' experience at the level of Engineering Testing Aid II*.

OPTION II :60 semester units or 90 quarter units in an accredited college or university** with specialization in engineering or a physical science***. Applicants may substitute experience for education. Every 18 months of experience conducting physical tests on engineering construction materials may be substituted for 30 semester units or 45 quarter units.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class 4 - Arduous: This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*Experience at the level of the County of Los Angeles class of Engineering Testing Aid II is defined as performing standardized physical tests on various engineering construction materials. EXAMINATION CONTENT:

This examination consists of a Multiple-Choice and Simulation Assessment, weighted at 100%, measuring:

Candidates must achieve a score of 70% or higher in order to be placed on the eligible register.

STANDARDIZED MULTIPLE-CHOICE TESTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

Notice of Non-Acceptance and Final Result letters will be sent electronically to your email address. Test scores cannot be given over the telephone.

TESTING ACCOMMODATION:
If you require an accommodation to fairly compete in any part of the assessment process, you will be given the opportunity to make a request when completing your application. Please note, you may be required to submit documentation from a qualified medical provider or other qualified professional to support your request for a testing accommodation.

TRANSFER OF TEST COMPONENTS:

If you have taken identical components recently for other exams, your responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

TEST PREPARATION:

We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.


ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
Applicants who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in Public Works as they occur.
