Sr. Construction Inspector
Description
Overview The Sr. Construction Inspector plays a critical role in overseeing and ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of public infrastructure and capital improvements projects. This position is responsible for performing advanced-level inspection work and various construction projects and ensuring adherence to approved plans, specifications, codes, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities • Conducts on-site inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, city standards, and safety regulations
• Reviews construction plans, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and completeness
• Documents daily construction activities including progress, materials used and any deviations or issues encountered
• Coordinates with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address field changes and resolve construction-related problems
• Monitors and verifies quantities for payment and assist in preparing pay estimates
• Ensures proper testing and quality control procedures are followed
• Mentors and provide guidance to junior inspectors as needed
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non-Exempt - Full-Time
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED
• Seven (7) years of experience
Certifications, Licenses or other requirements Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
