This position is essential in supporting our mission to rehabilitate youth and help them successfully transition out of the state custody system.ResponsibilitiesEnsure the safety and security of residents at all times.Monitor resident behavior and enforce facility rules and regulations.Conduct regular inspections of the facility to maintain safety standards.Prepare reports on incidents, behaviors, and daily activities.Assist in conflict resolution and de-escalation of tense situations.Administer first aid and CPR as needed during emergencies.Utilize CCTV systems for monitoring activities within the facility.Collaborate with staff to support residents in achieving their personal goals.QualificationsExperience in law enforcement or correctional settings is preferred.Strong conflict management skills to handle challenging situations effectively.General Responsibilities: To provide daily care of residents in the facility, following all criteria set by the State Manual and the Executive Director. Assist the Security Supervisor with the implementation of the rules and policies set by the State of Tennessee. All shift hours are available.Duties1. Perform intake on new residents.2. Keep daily logs.3. Participate in reporting and handling of crisis situations.4. Establish good rapport with residents and teach Independent Living Skills.5. Provide transportation for clients when needed.6. Maintain knowledge of community resources.7. Maintain discipline following State guidelines.8. Monitor residents for safe environment at the facility.9. Conduct yourself in a firm, non-offensive, and professional manner on shift.10. Appropriately communicate with residents as well as staff.11. Demonstrate competence in cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity.12. Follow all applicable policies of Mountain View Academy.13. Participate in the PQI program as requested.14. Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor.Qualifications and ExperienceA Youth Security Officer(YSO) must be 21 years of age with a High School Diploma/GED .
