Summary

Minimum Starting Salary: $59,484.98 per year
This is a grant funded position that is contingent on funding that is expected to end on November 30, 2027.

The City of Waco Seeks:

The City of Waco is seeking a highly motivated, analytical public health professional with a master’s degree who is interested in applying their education to complex, cross-functional projects in a local health department setting. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and eager to build experience in public health management, program evaluation, strategic planning, workforce development, policy, and quality improvement .

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Health Education, or related field.

Preferred:

• Certified in Public Health (CPH)
• Little or no professional public health management experience.

Position Description:

Under the general direction of the Program Evaluator, the Public Health Fellow will be tasked with the challenging, high-level projects for the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District (WMCPHD.)

Essential Functions:

• Assists with the development of the Community Health Needs Assessment and implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan for McLennan County.
• Assists in the development of an expanded partnership and resource directory for McLennan County.
• Works with Program Evaluator on a variety of initiatives, including project management and process improvement.
• Interacts and collaborates with Program Supervisors within the Health District as needed.
• Assists with the development and implementation of the Public Health Workforce Development Plan.
• Coordinates the Student Internship Program including maintaining partnerships with undergraduate and graduate Schools of Public Health to support workforce development.
• Assists in researching LHD governing documents and policies for review and consideration of the WMCPHD Advisory Board.
• Attends WMCPHD Advisory Board meetings.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Reviews and develops policies and procedures that will result in quality improvement projects across the Health District.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff, maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information
