Position DescriptionPerforms advanced, specialized work in the planning, conducting, and/or supervising of original research at TTUHSC. Responsible for participating in, planning, scheduling and/or supervising research projects and the interpretation of the results for publication. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.
Position is located in Lubbock, TXMajor/Essential Functions- Partner with faculty on study design, data analysis, and interpretation for clinical trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, and lab-based research.
- Provide expertise in designing research studies, including formulating research questions, recommending study designs (e.g., RCTs, longitudinal), and advising on randomization and blinding.
- Perform sample size and power analyses using appropriate software.
- Conduct or oversee statistical analyses using methods like descriptive statistics, regression models, mixed models, and propensity score matching.
- Ensure analyses comply with regulatory and ethical standards, particularly for clinical data.
- Write or review statistical sections of grant proposals (e.g., NIH, NSF), IRB applications, study protocols, and manuscripts for publication.
- Consult on data collection, quality control, and REDCap database development.
- Ensure data privacy and compliance with HIPAA and IRB guidelines.
- Provide guidance, when necessary, on graduate theses and dissertations.
- Collaborate with SHP (School of Health Professions) Departments and Offices to analyze data.
- Develop training modules for faculty.
Required QualificationsEducation: Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) or specialized academic training beyond the Bachelor's level in a particular field of science or engineering equivalent to a Doctoral degree.
Experience: Two years research experience; knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources and standards thereof.
In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conduct research involving critical infrastructure.
