Description

Vacancy is in the Department of Public Works. Under supervision to assist in the maintenance of municipal property by performing a variety of skilled painting tasks and various routine maintenance duties. Applies paint and other finishes to a variety of interior and exterior surfaces with a roller, brush, spray equipment and heat applicator; mixes paints, match colors, and prepares surfaces through sanding, scraping, washing or burning; fabricates stencils, silk screens, and hand letters various signs; in the Sign Shop, installs parking meters pipes, erects traffic signs, stripes street, crosswalks and curbs, and places temporary signs; in building maintenance, patches plaster, replaces broken glass window panes, stripes sports courts and swimming pools, hangs wallpaper, and erects scaffolding and rigging; performs preventive maintenance upon assigned equipment and performs a variety of routine maintenance tasks in the other building trades; occasionally serves in a lead capacity in the above tasks.

This is a 1716 union position. The hours of this position are 40 a week.

Qualifications

Open to all qualified applicants who meet the following qualifications:

Two year's experience as a journeyman painter.

If selected, you will be required to pass a physical examination administered by a City physician, a drug and alcohol screening, and a background check. If appointed, you will serve 3-12 months of probation. This examination and employment process is subject to all federal, state, and municipal laws, rules and regulations.
